TUS Scheme Overview: Uttar Pradesh Micro and Small Industries Technical Upgradation Scheme
What TUS Actually Is
TUS is short for the Uttar Pradesh Micro and Small Industries Technical Upgradation Scheme. It gives existing Micro and Small Enterprises financial help to upgrade their production technology — better machinery, cleaner processes, better testing and quality control — instead of running on outdated equipment.
Two Separate Benefits Under One Scheme
- Capital subsidy on machinery: 50% of the cost of installing advanced plant & machinery, or ₹5 lakh, whichever is lower.
- Interest subsidy on the loan: 50% of the interest paid on a loan taken to buy that machinery, capped at ₹1 lakh per year, for up to 5 years.
You can use one or both, depending on how you financed the purchase. Most units use a bank loan and claim both — the capital subsidy against the invoice, the interest subsidy year on year against the loan account.
Is TUS the same as the general UP capital subsidy?
No. TUS is tied specifically to technology upgradation — quality, environment, energy efficiency, and testing improvements. The general capital subsidy scheme covers broader plant & machinery investment.
Can I claim both the interest subsidy and the capital subsidy?
Yes, for the same machinery purchase, if you financed it through a loan — the capital subsidy is a one-time reimbursement, the interest subsidy is claimed annually against the loan for up to 5 years.
