What is the Scheme?

The Uttar Pradesh Textile and Garmenting Policy 2022 offers one of the largest capital subsidies on plant & machinery for anyone setting up a textile or garmenting unit in the state — along with interest subsidy, stamp duty exemption, electricity duty exemption, and freight reimbursement.

Will a small unit with fewer than 50 employees get the subsidy?

The main 25%+ capital subsidy requires the 50-employment condition. Smaller units may find the general capital subsidy under the UP MSME Policy (see the Capital Subsidy guide) a better fit.

Does the stamp duty exemption need to be claimed separately?

Yes, the stamp duty exemption is obtained through a separate process before registry — it's difficult to get a refund after registry, so this needs to be arranged in advance.
