Frequently Asked Questions

What is the objective?

To build the electronics component supply chain — the layer beneath assembly — and reduce import dependence.

What does it align with?

The Central Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), approved with outlay of over ₹22,900 crore. State incentives are additional to ECMS benefits.

What components are covered?

Eleven notified key component categories, including displays, camera modules and multilayer printed circuit boards.

What is the state target?

An investment target of about ₹5,000 crore, with substantial direct and indirect employment.

From when is it effective?

Retrospectively from 1 April 2025 — investments made from that date are eligible — with benefits extending for six years.

What is the governance structure?

A nodal agency supported by a policy implementation unit and an empowered committee.

What does the First Amendment change?

Rates, categories and procedural provisions. Read the amendment GO with the base policy.

Must a unit qualify under the Central ECMS first?

In most cases the state benefit is keyed to Central approval. Advise investors to secure ECMS approval in parallel.

What is the practical sequencing advice?

File the ECMS application first, secure the state LoC in parallel, and align the capex schedule so that milestone-linked disbursement under OIMS is available during construction.
